Uh-oh....

On New year's Day, I was able to confirm a suspicion I've had for some time now: My unassuming, inexpensive portable DVD player (a Mintek, in a model version no longer made) is apparently not bothered by region coding or video formatting. I've thrown a region-free PAL disc and a region 2 PAL disc at it, and it gladly played both discs, no problem. I may have to experiment a bit more (a region 3 disc, maybe), but right now, it looks like I've unknowingly owned a region-free player for about a year now.

Mercy me, I'm gonna be in trouble.
